A land of great contrast and culture, Spain’s wine pedigree is undoubted. The crisp dry, Albarino dominated whites of Rias Baixas from the Northwest are complemented by the sparking Cava and characterful Txakoli of the Basque country in the Northeast. Central Spain offers us the pedigree wine of Rioja, the powerful wines of Ribera del Duero and the plentiful wines of La Mancha. To the South, the wines of Yecla, Montilla and Malaga provide wines of character and value, whilst Jerez in the Southwest lend the wines of Manzanilla, Fino, Amontillado and Oloroso to our list.
