  • Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is a tricky customer but when handled correctly can produce sublime wines. It ripens early but it sensitive to terroir and will often ripen to quickly without developing its sought after perfumed flavours and aromas. Pinot Noir reaches its greatest heights in Burgundy as Chassagne Montrachet Rouge from Domaine Pillot or Rully Rouge from Domaine Jacqueson. It also produces excellent wines in the cooler parts of the new wine world such as Montes Alpha Pinot Noir in Aconcagua Costa Chile, Crimson Pinot Noir from Ata Rangi in Martinborough, New Zealand and Shaw Smith Pinot Noir from Adelaide Hills in South Australia.
