  • Malbec

Malbec is perhaps the most popular red wine grape variety in this country, but it produces very different wines depending on where it is produced. Its ancestral home is in Southwest France where it is used as a blending grape and it only really shows it quality in the earthy, savoury wines of Cahors such as Clos du Coutale. However, perhaps it belongs in Argentina, where in the region of Mendoza and the district of Cujan de Cuyo it demonstrates supple, dense blackberry and black pepper fruit and delicious ripe texture. Super examples can be found in our Kaiken Classico Malbec and Aguijon de Abeja Malbec.
